We opened with Youth's improv scene, which ended with a few words from the mayor!
The Minis were absolutely adorable, as always. They really sang out on all their pieces! This always happens with them. They're quiet in dress rehearsal, then they get in front of an audience and just let loose. It's kind of funny, actually.
The Childrens Choir was up next, and other than a few troubles with lines in acting scenes (thank you CM for helping out with that!) everything went off well. I really enjoyed being able to sing it all again, like I did in the last True Colours concert about six or seven years ago.
After the Childrens Choir left the stage, it was time for my solo in "Hands". I confess, I was pretty worried I wouldn't have much of a voice to sing it! Fortunately, I was able to sing after all, and I don't think I sounded like I had a cold or anything, so that's good. NP, the other soloist in that song, did really well too!
Then, we sang "Wings To Fly" with everyone, and took a break for intermission. After intermission, an RCMP officer came out briefly to talk about the RCMP's anti-bullying program.
The Littles were up next! They were so great. The "copycats" just had a little trouble with their entrances and exits, but it wasn't that big of a deal in the end. They were all still super adorable and just great with their lines.
Then it was the Youth's turn. We totally rocked "Born This Way", and the energy from that song really stayed with us. The audience was absolutely riveted to the powerpoint! Thank you BO for taking the pictures and recording the speaking, and thank you MH for putting it all together in such a neat way. All the soloists were amazing, by the way! I was just blown away by you all.
After our show was done, the other choirs joined us onstage to sing "True Colours". Our soloists were fabulous, and so confident. I asked the soloist from the Littles if she was nervous, and she gave me a big "Nope!", which was really good to hear. Stage fright can be a terrible thing.
