Happy new year, everyone.

As many of you know, we're doing a concert of all Disney songs this spring! The Youth will be doing some acting scenes in between song 'sets' as well. We'll be taking a different approach to costumes for this show--if you have a Disney character costume you'd like to wear, then boom, that's your character. If you don't have a costume but know who you want to be, then we'll help you find that costume. If you have no clue what character you want to be, we'll choose one for you from among the costumes we have access to. Sounds like a good plan, right? Of course right.
And yes, we will be singing "Let It Go". Happy new year, everyone. KM

Well, not only did my exam go well, but the concert was GREAT! There were a few little slip-ups here and there, and maybe some transitions took a little longer than we would have liked, but those are really just minor bumps in what was ultimately a really well performed show.
Each choir had a show-stealing moment or two, I thought--of course, the Minis charmed and delighted every time they went up on stage, but so did all the others! I was especially proud of my Youth choir (given that I wrote their show pretty much from scratch and directed the acting scenes on my own). Well done, all of you. And a huge thank you to our backstage helpers, who were down two people due to illness but still managed to keep everything running pretty smoothly! And of course, our gratitude also goes out to those of you (parents of singers, helpers, etc) who came out to help set up and take down everything. A bunch of the Youth choir will be meeting for one last Thursday rehearsal (for the Dec.16th performance), but for the rest of you, I wish you the happiest of holidays and I hope to see you all again in January! KM Combining the two because I can, also I have an exam tomorrow (yes, you heard that correctly) and I feel like this will take less time away from studying.
Dec. 3rd was our first rehearsal with the musicians! Every choir ran through all their songs and lines (or at least, the majority of their songs and all of their lines). Tonight was our dress rehearsal at the St. Albert United Church, which went well. The Children got to practice singing "The Polar Express" with the actual train! Well, okay, it's an electric scooter with a cardboard train... thing over it. And of course, everyone got the chance to practice speaking into actual microphones. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm looking forward to tomorrow's show! I believe it's now sold out, though I'm sure we'll have a few people who can't make it--which really just means that we'll be able to squeeze a few other people in! Wish me luck on my exam tomorrow, everyone--after all, if I don't finish it quickly enough, we'll have to hold the 'curtain' until I get there. That's right, I have my first final exam of the term two hours before the concert. Whee... KM |
AuthorHi, I'm KM. I work with all the SAYMA choirs as the lead helper. I sang in the choirs for 12 years, and I just couldn't bring myself to leave, so I didn't! Oh, and I write this blog, but I'm guessing you figured that out already. Archives
