We start up again in January for our spring concert full of African music and folktales, with the first rehearsal being our "Bring A Friend" night. Have a great winter break! See you in the new year.

I just wanted to say a quick thanks to all the Youth choir members that came out to sing a few songs at the Enjoy Centre yesterday evening. Great job on singing some of the Littles and Childrens music! I didnt know you knew those songs so well!

I am so proud of everyone! Last night went SO well. Sure, there were a few hiccups, like when we "lost" the Littles before "Santa is the Man", or when we didn't lower the curtain for the transition to "North Pole Exposure", but I think it wouldn't be a proper concert without a few little problems. Hey, no-one threw up onstage, and no-one lost their voice completely just before the concert, so I consider it a very successful performance!
The Littles kicked off the show with their show, "Holiday Zoobilee". Those kids really knew their stuff! I bet they could've been ready to perform two weeks ago, that's how well they knew their songs and lines. The Minis followed the animal theme with "A Teddy Bear Christmas". I was so proud of those girls for not being scared of the audience or the big stage. They were very brave and sang very well. Then the Littles (eventually) came back onto the stage for "Santa is the Man", which went well as soon as we got the Littles where they needed to be. After that was the Children's Choir with "North Pole Exposure". It took a while to get everyone out there because the body mics needed to be set up, but after that it went very smoothly. I'm especially proud of my toys! You guys did great with your lines. Then, intermission, and after intermission, the Youth choir, with my show that I wrote, "Cinderella and the Snow Queen". Yes, I think of this one as my show. I wrote the script, chose the songs, helped to cast it, and directed most of the scenes. It's good practice for our 2015 spring term, when I (temporarily) take over running SAYMA rehearsals from CM. Anywho, back to the topic at hand. The show went amazingly well, and I was positively thrilled to see my script brought to life on stage in full costume and everything. I am so proud of you all. You are my stars! Speaking of stars, any Youth who didn't get a glow in the dark star from me, let me know so I can bring the rest to the Dec. 14th mini-performance. See you all in January, and to the Youth, I hope to see you all on the 14th! KM So in the end it was more like a huge sound check, but still!
The Littles started things off, as we ran in the show order of Littles, Minis, Children, and Youth--for the most part. They sang all their songs, and went over a bunch of their lines to test the mics. The Minis then sang a bunch of their songs and went over some of their lines, and the helpers playing the older bears tested their body mics. Then, they combined first with Littles for "Santa is the Man", then the other choirs joined them for "Cover the World". After that, the Littles and Children took the stage for "Away From the Mistletoe", then the Childrens were left to run a few of their songs and have body mics checked for some of the actors. Finally, the Youth practiced a few songs while the techs took a break, and then it was time for their mic checks. They later practiced scene transitions and working with some props--like the 'mirror' the Snow Fairies pull on! Tonight is our concert! Break a leg, everyone. KM |
AuthorHi, I'm KM. I work with all the SAYMA choirs as the lead helper. I sang in the choirs for 12 years, and I just couldn't bring myself to leave, so I didn't! Oh, and I write this blog, but I'm guessing you figured that out already. Archives
