First off, props to the Youth choir singers that were able to come out early and get acquainted with their buddies in the Minis and Littles. You all did a great job with those kids.
We started by having the Minis and Littles colour pictures with their big buddies, then the Minis and the Minis helpers taught the Littles and Youth "Kye Kye Kule", and the Minis and Littles sang "I Just Can't Wait To Be King" together. The Minis sang "Jambo Rafiki" by themselves and the Littles sang "Muziki Vuma".
Once the Children's Choir arrived, we all ran through "Circle of Life" and "Wakati Wa Amani" together. Then, we said goodbye to the Minis and the Littles, and had the Children and Youth rehearse together. The Youth got to learn "Takadamu", and the Children got to learn "Can You Feel the Love Tonight". The Children's Choir performed "Firefly" and "Tue Tue" for the Youth, and the Youth performed "Watu Wote" for the Children.
After the Children's Choir left for the evening, the Youth played a few little drama games and then went to work on a bunch of their songs as well as their reader's theatre pieces. The reader's theatre stuff will be presented next rehearsal. The Youth also reviewed the gumboot dance.
Next week, it's back to our regular rehearsal format, but after that, we have another all-together rehearsal (this time at the Shrine Hall)! Prepare accordingly.
