There sure are a lot of Littles this year! Exciting stuff. I'm just glad that I managed to get all the binder photos done before the end of the rehearsal--thanks largely to Brenna and Molly's diligent assistance. The Littles got a brief introduction to their show, and started learning "Seven Feet of Snow". They also had a puppet show for a song called "Who, Me?".
The Children's Choir is also bigger than we expected! A lot more Littles moved up than we thought. (Thanks again to Molly for her help making sure that each singer got their picture taken) The kids started with "The Polar Express" and "A Cold In My Nose", and also got to see a few scenes from their script read out by the helpers. However, it should be noted that CM has already rewritten the script to better suit our current membership, so the finished product will be much changed from what we presented last night. A writer's work is never done...
The Youth started work on a few songs--"Sparklejollytwinklejingley", "One Moment In Time", and "The Polar Express" (which they and the Littles will be singing with the Children's Choir). They also read through a few scenes from their show. We will continue script reads next rehearsal, after which CM and I will likely finalize casting decisions. Again, the choir is bigger than we anticipated, so I will be writing in a few more roles.
Next week, we expect to see a few more new (and/or old) faces now that back-to-school events are over and done with! Or at least, I think they're over? I don't know, I'm not in grade school any more. I don't keep track of these things!
While you all eagerly await our second rehearsal of the season, do any of you have ideas for what to call our concert? Submit them here!
